I may not know your story
But I’ve had my troubles too,
I may not know you’re suffering
But I have suffered too,
I’ve ached so hard inside my soul
I thought that I would die,
–No–
I hoped that I would die.
We all have our stories,
None are cut and dry;
No two people cry the same
Or know the reason why;
So when you tell me I won’t understand,
–Please–
Tell me and let me try.
I heard a man just killed himself,
And a woman took her life;
No one knows the reason for
This loss of precious life;
There’s something they’re not telling us,
Maybe they didn’t know themselves;
Whatever seeped into their minds
Bled black upon their souls.
We all have our stories,
None are quite the same;
No two people bleed alike,
Still we all bleed anyway;
So when you tell me I can’t feel your pain,
–Please–
Tell me and let me try.
I don’t have the answer,
Neither do those who die;
Despair and fear, depression,
Rob the spark of life;
Maybe you lost the will to live,
You had no more to give;
Whatever it was that broke your heart,
Has broken my heart too.
We all have our stories,
None are cut and dry;
No two people cry the same
Or know the reason why;
So when you tell me I won’t understand,
–Please–
Tell me and let me try.
Sometimes we hurt so deeply
It’s impossible to see,
The love that’s all around us,
The love that makes us free;
The torment that you’re feeling
Makes you think you’re all alone;
But souls like yours are precious,
We want to bring you home.
Don’t do this thing that quiets you,
That stills a beating heart;
There’s my love that surrounds you,
The love of others too;
So when you tell me I won’t understand,
–Please,
Tell me and let me try.
Wow, great writing and heartfelt throughout, Will.

You’re welcome, Ilah. There’s too much self-inflicted death in the world and no answers. I wish I had the words to stop it.
Thank you for reading and commenting 🙂 ❤

Powerful prose on a topic not many of us feel comfortable discussing. I feel such great sadness for those who experience overwhelmingly despair. Obviously I did not know Kate and Anthony and I mourn their deaths. Your talent helps those of us who are not articulate. Thank you for writing this.

I’m glad it touched you, Jane. We can’t get people to talk who are suicidal; I think at some point they become unreachable. That leaves prevention. But how do we prevent something when we can’t even pinpoint a cause?

As a deist, I don’t believe God intervenes in this life, but your other 6 “Keys to life” are golden (as in the Golden rule).

Perfectly put this… Tell me and let me try.
Sometimes life’s storms fill our eyes with so much tears till we hardly see the good thing that lies right before our eyes. At that moment it feels like you’re the only one going through such moments.
Thank you for this beautiful read.

Thank you JudyGerald. Suicide is heartbreaking. It’s unfortunate that it takes the deaths of celebrities to shake us up.
